In the heart of unspoiled nature, the surroundings of Aix-en-Provence are made up of castles and cellars to explore without moderation. The wine estates will welcome you within their lands to make you discover their history.

Reputed to be the cultural capital of Provence and the favorite city of the French to settle down because it is good to live there, its surroundings are just as charming. The wine estates that are present there further embellish the place.

Provence was also one of the very first French regions to cultivate vines. Today, the vineyard extends between Les Baux de Provence and Fréjus: from the coast to the hinterland. The wines that make it up are also mostly rosés (80%) and the most common grape varieties are Grenache Noir and Cinsault.

The Aix-en-Provence wine route extends as far as Marseille. The production vineyard of the AOC Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence covers 4,200 hectares. On the way, you will find many castles offering tastings throughout the year but also visits and other workshops.

Aix-en-Provence is a city in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in the South of France. To tell you the truth, this is where Paul Cézanne, the famous painter who created the Post-Impressionism movement, was born. We also invite you to visit Cézanne's studio, which has been transformed into a museum.

Other visits are a must in this pretty southern town. Walk along the Cours Mirabeau which is a famous tree-lined avenue. Then, go to the foot of the Saint-Sauveur Cathedral Parish, the religious building of varied architecture. To continue your escapade, visit the Granet Museum which exhibits works from the 15th to the 19th century.

Winalist invites you to discover all the activities around Aix-en-Provence offered by our hosts. If you like it, you can book it directly on our site thanks to online prepayment. Good luck and see you soon for new adventures!

The region also produces a variety of white and red wines that are worth discovering. Here is a list of typical wines that you can taste during your visit:

  • Rosé : fresh, light and fruity wines, often with aromas of strawberry, raspberry and citrus. Provence rosés are renowned for their quality and elegance.

  • Cinsault : generally used in blending, this grape variety brings freshness and fruity aromas to the region's rosés and reds.
  • Syrah : a black grape variety producing intense red wines, with aromas of black fruits, violet and pepper, often associated with a solid tannin structure.
  • Vermentino (or Rolle) : white grape variety that produces fresh, aromatic white wines, with notes of white-fleshed fruit, lemon and Mediterranean herbs.
