Poggio Mori is a small family-run organic winery in Sarteano (SI), Tuscany. Initially, the vineyards were planted with Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo, and Trebbiano. In 2007, thanks to winemaker Andrea Franchetti, Bordeaux varietals were introduced.
The vineyards were planted from the beginning to ensure high-quality production. A high-density planting system was chosen, with 8,800 vines per hectare, trained using the Guyot system. In the vineyard, yields per hectare are deliberately kept low, ensuring that the grapes destined for winemaking, harvested at peak ripeness and selected in the field, are healthy and rich in organoleptic properties.
All work in the vineyards, from pruning to harvest, is carried out manually, ensuring that each plant receives the utmost care. Poggio Mori wines are produced respecting the characteristics that the microclimate and terroir have imparted to the grapes. The grapes are harvested from late August to October, depending on the grape variety. The different varieties are vinified and aged separately, carefully monitoring each production step. Terracotta, concrete, and wooden amphorae are used for aging.
