About the winery

The “new”/”old” space is dedicated to our customers, with Douro and Porto wine tastings and guided tours.

This one began with the rehabilitation of a century-old winery, now restored and visitable, where you can find old stone wine presses and traditional Douro barrels.

If you don't already know us, Vieira de Sousa is a family company producing Port and Douro wines, now in its 5th generation. All of our wines are produced with grapes from family estates that occupy almost 60 hectares in the Douro Valley. The Quintas are located along the Douro River, which allows us to produce different wines from year to year, maintaining quality.

In 2021 we were distinguished by Revista de Vinhos with the Fortified Wines Producer of the Year Award.

Meet the team

The family has a long history in the Douro, having been producing Port wine for five generations. In the 19th century, the Vieira de Sousa brand was created by José Silvério Vieira de Sousa, great-grandfather of Luísa and Maria Borges – the pair of sisters who currently continue this legacy. The wines are produced with our own grapes, coming from 70 hectares of different family properties, located in the Cima Corgo sub-region: Qta Águia Alta; Qta do Fojo; Qta do Roncão; Source Qta.
