About the winery

A Wine always has a story, an origin, a motivation! The initial motivation was to take care of "my land", to preserve a unique wine-growing heritage.
Thus, each of my wines has a connection and an unforgettable story.
The production comes from old vines that I have been recovering, making wines in small quantities, preserving an exclusive profile.
The vineyards are located in two small villages: Souselas and Button near the city of Coimbra.

Meet the team

My name is Rui Lucas and I am a winegrower in the Bairrada Region, in Coimbra. In 2013 I decided to become a "vigneron", in order to preserve the unique and endangered wine heritage in my home village. I created the PRIOR LUCAS brand, in honor of my father, José Prior Lucas, who was the person who preserved and cared for the family's vineyards, before passing them on to the next generation. Every year I keep some very old vines, including centuries old.
