From Vine to Glass

Quinta do Quetzal is located in the heart of the Alentejo region on the slopes of Vidigueira. It is close to the oldest Roman wine cellar in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. The microclimate and our hills create the ideal conditions for a unique terroir that goes against the typical Alentejo property. The schist soils, the different sun exposures and altitudes allowed by the hilly topography and areas planted with old vines, form a unique combination in the scenery of the Alentejo plain. The Vidigueira region is sunny and warm, but, as it is located at the southern foot of the Serra do Mendro, it benefits from the fresh winds carried by the mountains from the Atlantic Ocean. These conditions, which translate into high daily temperature ranges, give the plants the heat they need to ripen the grapes and the coolness to recover. Its exceptional quality allows it to produce wines in limited quantities, which express the character of the surrounding region.
To complete the Quetzal experience, a new building was created that houses a restaurant, a shop and an art center. The shale, which covers its walls, stands out and simultaneously integrates fluidly into the surroundings. The surrounding space was designed to incorporate natural native plants in order to maximize the experience of the Alentejo's natural habitat.
