About the host
The goal is to demonstrate that Alta Lunigiana can produce quality wines in the tradition of Tuscan reds, maintaining the territorial identity. In 2003, the renewal of the historic vineyard began towards sustainability and biodiversity, pushing the vines to the edge of the forest to take advantage of the temperature variations and the different geological soils.
The production is based on local and international varieties: Ciliegiolo (a grape variety native to the area), Vermentino Nero and Merlot (present for centuries thanks to the pilgrims of the Via Francigena). In 2014, their son Matteo, an architect turned winemaker, joined and directed research towards the recovery of ancient vineyards.
The company acquired a fifty-year-old vineyard at 300 meters above sea level, from which since 2015 it has produced a limited series of pure Pinot Noir from over-fifty-year-old vines, called "Fedespina" like the company itself, which accompanies the two historic wines.
