About the host
Van Zellers & Co was founded in 1780, although the family has been producing wines in the Douro region since 1620, making them the oldest family in Port. In the 18th century, Van Zellers & Co established the first maritime wine trade routes between Portugal and the Baltic States and was considered one of the most prominent Port merchants, exporting over 1,000 barrels annually. Their respect for the Douro, its diversity, tradition and people has kept their descendants in the business.
