About the host
'In Giuva we try to be faithful to what the land offers us,
our desire is to bring the character of our grapes into every glass,
fully respecting the identity of high hill wines'
The La Giuva winery is located in the hills north of Verona,
a few kilometers from the Lessinia Park. The area falls within the Valpolicella denomination of origin area, at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level, where the hill hosted old vineyards in a context of biodiversity recognizable in the combination of vines, olive trees, fruit trees, meadows and woods.
Here too, in fact, as for most of the pre-Alpine reliefs, both in the summit areas and on the hillsides, the territory is characterized by calcareous soils such as biancone and scaglia rossa.
Limestone is very important because calcium is an element of great health for vines and regulates biochemical processes: it is a fundamental component for the formation of the fixed acidity of wines that provides great structure and minerality.
The production choice of La Giuva, today, focuses on native wines from the Trezzolano area, in the upper Val Squaranto, a portion of unique territory that differs from the rest of the valley for the conformation of the land, here clearly more calcareous and characterized by slopes and constant winds.
