The history of Quinta da Atela, in Alpiarça, dates back to the 14th century, specifically to the year 1346, when its name was still Quinta da Goucha e Atela and its owner was D. Afonso Telo de Menezes, Count of Ourém and Barcelos, son-in-law of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira. Later, it was donated to a religious order, the Convento da Graça de Santarém dos Agostinhos Calçados. At the end of the 20th century, the farm was purchased by Isidoro Maria de Oliveira, founder of Salsichas Izidoro. After the 25th of April, in 1974, the farm was occupied for a decade, after which it was returned to its former owners, although a significant part of it was owned by the agricultural cooperative. In 2017, Quinta da Atela began a new phase, culminating in the project we know today: it was acquired by its current owners, the business couple Anabela Tereso and Fernando Vicente, administrators of Valgrupo, a major holding company in the agricultural sector. With a completely renewed identity, driven by Anabela, the tireless matriarch of the family, the estate saw all its buildings and spaces restored, including the main house, and its entire range of wines reformulated.
