Begin your experience at 6pm with a guided tour of the cellars. Discover the history of one of the most prestigious Port wine houses in the world and learn about the wine production process – from its origins in the Douro Valley and Quinta do Panascal, to its ageing process and even sustainable winemaking practices.

Follow this, enjoy an unforgettable tasting session. Sample two of Fonseca’s most iconic wines (Bin 27 and Siroco) while immersing yourself in the sounds of one of the greatest symbols of Portuguese culture – Fado. For children, a Douro Valley grape juice is served as an alternative.

About the host

The Fonseca Experience, tasting room and shop is located in the heart of historic Vila Nova de Gaia, across the Douro River from the city of Porto.

Located in cellars with hundreds of years of history, the Fonseca experience allows guests to learn about the uniqueness of the Douro Valley, the significant role Fonseca has played in sustainable viticulture, and how Port wine is made including a chance to test your ability to identify Port wine aromas. Guests will further learn about the history of the company, and its world famous wines.

With spectacular views of the city of Porto and the famous Dom Luis I bridge, guests will further learn about Fonseca´s role in producing some of the world´s finest wines, Fonseca Vintage Ports. Guests will also learn about the versatility of Port wine for food pairings, and be able to leave their own suggestions for others to appreciate.
