Visit to the vineyards with Iconic Tasting

Quinta da Pedra Alta is located in Soutelinho-Favaios, near Alijó, in the highest part of the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro, above the Pinhão River. One of the real advantages of the Quinta’s location is the variety of altitudes of the vineyards (from 230m to 550m) and the wide variety of grape varieties planted across the 35 hectare estate. This allows us to produce a wide range of styles, from fresh and elegant whites to richer Douro reds, as well as Port wines.

Our vineyards have a long history dating back to at least the late 18th century. There are 3 Pombaline landmarks on the property that were placed to demarcate the region (1758 to 1761). We believe we are the only Quinta with 3 of these landmarks. The region has always produced grapes for high quality Port wines and, following a renovation project carried out in the 1990s and early 2000s, they began producing DOC Douro wines. However, there was limited investment over the next 10 years, and the winery was put up for sale in 2016. Quinta da Pedra Alta was acquired in July 2018 by the new owners, who are intent on helping our winemaker, João Pires, realise the full potential of this incredible plot of land through investment in the vineyards, winery, as well as a complete revamp of the brand and product range.
