Welcome to the heart of Graves, to the Château de Portets!

Set off on a 90-minute walking tour, guided by an app you can download to your smartphone. You'll walk through the vineyards and through the narrow streets of the village of Portets, ending your stroll at the château with a wine tasting!

Meet in the château courtyard, where you'll depart, passing the Renaissance terrace, towards the vineyards and the Garonne River. Take time to admire the panorama and discover the old port of the village of Portets. At each stop, the app will provide an explanation.

You'll discover the origins of the name Portets, the great commercial activity that long reigned on its pontoons, the remains that dot the village... And finally, the Château de Portets, a medieval fortress transformed into a Renaissance château, and today an authentic family winery.

You'll end your walk with a tasting of three wines.

About the host

In the heart of the Graves, the Château de Portets combines oenological discovery, historical visit and beauty of the landscapes!

The Château de Portets has remarkable architecture, in the Renaissance style, with its stone terrace overlooking the vineyard and the Garonne. Recognized for its architecture (classified as a Historic Monument), as well as for the quality of its welcome (winner "Best of Wine Tourism 2024"), the Château de Portets is located 25 km south of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Graves vineyard. For its red wines, the Château relies on its thirty hectares of vines distributed 55% in Merlot and 45% in Cabernet Sauvignon. The white wines are made from 5 hectares of vines with 60% Sémillon, 30% Sauvignon and 10% Muscadelle.

Very dynamic in terms of wine tourism, the Château de Portets created a 400 m2 space in 2015 with the aim of offering an atypical wine tour (scenography space, seminar room, tasting space, catering area, shop, etc.). The site is suitable for all types of people (individuals, groups, schools, disabled people, etc.).

Easily accessible by train (TER 44 from Bordeaux St Jean), Château de Portets is just 30 minutes by car from Bordeaux (via A62 towards Toulouse).
