We invite you to dive into the authentic world of a great Touraine wine house, rich in its know-how. The visit begins in the open air with an exceptional view of the Cher and the famous "Valley of the Kings" which was also the largest place of troglodyte habitat in France. Then you will immerse yourself in the heart of our cellars thanks to our scenography on the theme of the Loire castles, created to measure by the artist Na/Da.

You will then dive into our production cellar to unlock the secrets of the traditional method. Our cuvées are the subject of an artisanal aging on slats in the tufa cellars and are worked only on small assemblies.

Finally, you will be invited to taste our Cuvée Prestige, raised in the greatest tradition since 1930, or alcohol-free "Pur Raisin Sparkling" (for those who do not drink alcohol or people under 18 years old)

About the host

The tradition began in 1886 with Alcide Monmousseau who successfully founded a wine trade in Montrichard. While his business enjoyed great recognition, he discovered at the end of the 19th century one of the most important freestone quarries in the region, which turned out to be for him and his nephew Justin-Marcel, the ideal place to the production of wines according to the traditional method.

The Monmousseau cellars are an essential site for wine tourism in the Loire Valley. We offer you a unique visit to a great Touraine wine house, rich in its know-how and its 15 km of galleries.

The visit begins in the open air with an exceptional view of the Cher and the famous “Valley of the Kings” which was also the largest place of troglodyte habitat in France. The immersion in the heart of our cellars is amazing thanks to the tapestries of lights worked by the artist Na/Da, to offer you an unprecedented vision of the most beautiful monuments of the Loire and retrace the history and origin of the cellars. Then, you will cross the production cellar where our bottles age on slats to explain to you in detail the traditional method for which the wines of Maison Monmousseau are renowned. You will end your visit with a commented tasting of our emblematic cuvées.
